Fun in Sohag

This past week had Barrette in Sohag doing training. Sandy joined him on Wednesday, and they had some Sohagi adventures, which you can see in the pictures. Now, it’s on to El Fayoum and then Cairo to meet up with Sandy’s cousin and wife.

Luxor

Filed as Everyday Life by barrette Monday June 30, 2008

Last week found us conducting a 4-day conversation and methodology workshop in Luxor.  It was great!  The teachers there are fantastic (all of our teachers are), and we had a good time.  It was a little bit hot — 45 the first day — and let me tell you that eating on a metal table in 45 degree heat is not a recommended activity.  Anyhow, here are some pictures that capture some of the fun we had.

April and May in Assiut

Filed as Everyday Life by barrette Tuesday June 10, 2008

April and May sailed by, and I type this email on Orie‘s 6-month birthday!  It seems like only yesterday that he was born (cliche warning) and we had to tell family they’d see him in 10½ months.  Well, now it’s just over 4 months and on days like today, when all is well (even though it’s over 40°), it seems like time is simply flying by too quickly. So, these pictures are a rather belated look at the events in our lives from April and May.

We’re still hoping to add a post about our visit to Palestine and Israel at the end of April, and will try to update you on June’s happenings, too when we can…

Right now, we are in our 3rd week of summer training, and it’s going great! The teachers’ English has improved so much, and we’re really enjoying the training.

The cake is from a guy we met at the restaurant we went to on my birthday; he was there celebrating his birthday too. The other cake was made for Orie by our teacher friends in Sohag when we brought him there for his first visit. The other pictures are just a few random glimpses into our lives.

Old website still available

If you are reading this, you probably have inferred that our old site has been done away with.  Well, not quite.  Updating the old site was a fairly time-intensive process, and we’ve moved to this format to allow for (theoretically) more frequent updates.  But all of the old content is still available.

Just follow the link below to access the old site:
